PRINCETON, N.J. – The athletes that will compete in rowing events at the 2015 World University Games, July 3-14, in Gwangju, South Korea have been selected, USRowing announced Monday.

While the crews are just beginning practices and getting organized, final lineups have not yet been set. The event will feature racing in the men’s and women’s single sculls, lightweight men’s and women’s single sculls, men’s and women’s double sculls, lightweight men’s and women’s double sculls, men’s pair, men’s and women’s four and men’s eight.

The World University Games is a multisport event held every two years. It is organized by the International University Sports Federation and open to university athletes. This year’s games will have U.S. representation in 21 sports with 550 athletes, the largest U.S. team in the history of the event.

Nineteen men and ten women have been named to the team.

Of the 19 men, two were part of the team that finished sixth in the men’s eight in 2013, in Kazan, Russia, including Zach Petronic (Pittsburgh, Pa.) from the University of Pittsburgh and Ian Luetzow (Louisville, Ky.) of Drexel University. This year, Petronic will participate in the sculling events.
